The Day Trips You Need to Take Before the End of Summer

tips and tricks

It’s August so that means school is almost back in session and we’re well on our way to the fall season. The great thing about living in Middle Tennessee is how many great day trips you can take within just a few hours. So, here’s a round-up of our favorite quick road trips you can do for a quick weekend getaway.

1. Asheville

These destinations are listed in no particular order, however, if we had to pick one to claim the top spot, Asheville would definitely be it! If you’re located in the greater Nashville area, you can drive to Ashville in about five hours or less! Ashville has great options for shopping and eating, full stop. But if you’re wanting to venture out and do some outdoor activities, there are some great hikes and sights (i.e. The Biltmore and the Blue Ridge Mountains) to see!

2. Chattanooga

If you’re looking for a quick trip you can take either on a whim, Chattanooga is the place. You can hike up Lookout Mountain, walk the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge, or simply grab a coffee and a bite to eat. If you’re traveling from Brentwood, it’ll likely take you a little over two hours plus any time used for stops along the way.

4. Memphis

Barbeque anyone? Okay, so this might be obvious to everyone already, but a trip to Memphis has to be on your if you’ve never been before OR if you’re simply a fan of delicious BBQ. Plus, there’s Graceland. Enough said.

You can get to Memphis in just a couple of hours so you could make a day of it if you don’t want to make hotel or Airbnb reservations!
