If the new year is bringing a new arrival—and we don’t mean a puppy—then you’ll want to see the latest trends in nurseries. Even if you’re not expecting, these adorable ideas are worth cooing over. We checked the latest nursery decorating trends and here’s what we’ve learned so far:

 1. GOODBYE, GENDER-NEUTRAL

Those who choose to be surprised when the baby arrives will likely still want to go with a non-gender-specific scheme, but more and more parents-to-be are going all in with girly girl and all-boy décor. Pinks and  ruffles, blues and rough-and-tumble…the trend is less generic and more playful personality.

2. WALLPAPER. EVERYWHERE.

No longer confined to a single accent wall, wallpaper is sweeping across the entire room. And with such adorable options, like “Oh Deer” from Anewall (pictured) why would you want to limit it? Especially now that you can get stick-on, removable wallpaper and avoid all that messy glue.

3. LIGHTER COLORS. ALSO, DARKER COLORS.

In a word: color. As in, not beige/greige. Perfect pastels, bold brights, soothing earth tones… Newborns in 2025 will go home to color-filled spaces. Hint: since they’re not able to express a color preference, choose a hue that fills parents’ hearts with joy. There will be plenty of time for discussing room décor choices once that baby becomes a teenager.

4. OOH-LA-LA FRENCH PROVINCIAL

Elegant and understated, French provincial design is a timeless choice that marries comfort with style. For this look, mix in antique (or antique-inspired) pieces with modern ones to create a space that looks like it evolved over time. Colors to focus on are chalky whites accented with soft blues, coral, lavender, greens or grays.

5. A HINT OF A THEME

It seems this year designers are over over-the-top themed rooms, but that doesn’t mean getting rid of themes altogether. The new idea is more sprinkling themed pieces around the room rather than drenching the whole room in circus, space, cowboy or whatever. Bonus: when the chosen theme gets old, it will be easier to update the space.

However you choose to decorate your little one’s space, the most important design feature is love. Best wishes!
